First heard about “Hakuna Matata” is in the film 《The Lion King》, the old African proverb may be the most repeat lines in the film.It’s the meaning of “no worries and troubles”.How simple and profound words, how pure and sincere 

blessing. This Kiswahili proverb has spread for a long time, is the most incisive philosophy on behalf of the African 

culture.

Since 2007, because of my job, I came to Africa, visited many countries. Contacted with  the African people, when 

I had trouble in work, or life is difficult, African friends gave me the most comfort is also "Hakuna Matata", just like 

Timon and Pumbaa comforted the  rescued Simba. It makes me more worship to this magical proverb, this saying 

not only gives people hope, more give power to the people. Perhaps it is the power of the ego encourage, let the 

Africans have been stubborn resistance and tenacity of life.

In the eyes of people, "Africa" has been in chaos, hunger, backward, corruption and inefficiency. Famous film

《black hawk down》,《blood diamond》,《hotel Rwanda》and so on, all use practical technique describes 

African politics, Africans. In recent years, folk wisdom is how fierce the Somali pirates, all kinds of black looting 

and the story of how African countries government officials corruption. Facts do not argue, but in my eyes, 

Africa have different with these, what I see more is the gentleness of the African people, kindness, honesty and 

the intoxicate beauty of nature of Africa.

In 2009, my customers and I had a inspection in mozambique port, after the port inspection ,we need to continue 

the visit to Tate, and arrange vehicles reception in Tate. Bella have 500 kilometers distance to Tate, bad roads, need 

7-8 hours driving, due to special reasons, the original vehicle can't reach, it’s a difficult problem for me. This is the 

first time for My colleagues and I go to this place, local have no one friends can help . In the helpless, a African just 

like god arrangement of appeared in front of us, his name is jacinto, and he is a car salesman. I talked with he about 

our needs, and want to hire he as driver and rent his car, car rental week-long time, on the condition that he need

depart today at night, the second day early in the morning 10 o 'clock at the Tate airport to meet me and my client, 

this means that he shall start at 2 o 'clock this evening. After consideration,he readily agreed, we were pleased to 

invited he to the pub to drank two cups of beer, he were pleased to introduce to us about the local situation, and 

always comfort said we don't have to worry about, the task he will be done well, "Hakuna Matata", he really enjoyed 

chatting with us, warmed, like brothers. Back to the hotel, I was very uneasy, because if the strangers "brother" 

bad faith, that we'll be up shit creek, not only delay work but also lose face in front of the customer.At 3 o 'clock in 

the morning, I gave him a call to remind him up, but his cell phone turned off, it's almost let me awake all night. The 

second day early in the morning, we fly from Bella to Tate as planned, his cell phone is turned off before departure, 

I almost lost hope, fear of waiting for the take off, waiting for the coming of the embarrassing situation at the same 

time. An hour later, the plane landed, I can't wait to open the phone, dialed the telephone to jacinto, "finished!" I 

thought, his phone is turned off! "Bastard, cheat us!" When I hate to be fluky psychology and dial his phone again, 

in a short time,the phone connected and there was jacinto tired voice, "I'm in the parking lot, waiting for you." This 

let me pleasantly surprised, he picked us up, and we successfully completed the field of the task. Later, I asked him 

why he close mobile phone, he also saw us so very anxious about this, he explained that the fear of the cell phone 

out of power, the second day can't contact us,that’s not worse, finally said "Hakuna Matata", the dark face skim 

over pure smile. "Hakuna Matata", it seems to us that night, anxiety, doubt the best comfort, is also for the night 

we struggle, anxiety, doubt that the best retort. "Hakuna Matata" let me forget anxiety and doubt, just remember 

the port of Bella to Tate the beautiful scenery along the way.

I have many friends work in Africa.they work as a project manager, diplomats, and have a private business owners, 

really hope they love Africa, and I also hope they complained about the African slow, Africa's disorderly, at the same 

time, can go to try to understand, to adapt and tolerance, truly develop Africa from love Africa, exchanges since 

respect  Africa, thorough understanding Africa from“Hakuna Matata" philosophy.
